Hey Ya'll, Updating my toneheadz page here!
Me and Markyman have been doing guitar overdubs for the new Rebel Storm album. I have been using three Lesters {Les Pauls}, The ones I've toured Europe with and I have acquired the R58 reissue from my brother Jeff, My Gibson Nighthawk, Korina V. Ibanez hollowbody, its the newest art core model a thin single cutaway with the antique finish, its all flame maple, and I've had all the electronics replaced. That's it so far for guitars.
For amps, I am currently using two in the studio. A Peavey classic 50 tweed head through a Peavey classic 410 cabinet, and a modified classic 30 combo, this particular one is the black tweed. it is modified so that I bypass the 12 inch speaker and has an added output jack that I run into a Peavey classic 410 cabinet. The stock speakers are eminence and I like them just fine. I use the classic 30 for more grind, and the 50 watt for a cleaner deeper tone. Mark Baker's VHT Pitbull is one great sounding amp too!
We are finishing up the first seven songs for the new C.D. We are having a blast and doing some creative miking on the amps and stuff. Using different guitars for different sounds.. Different amps.. we have used a valve junior laying around the studio too. I have seen Mark use four different amps at different times during the recording process. In the past we have always tried to make sure we could perform the songs we recorded live, but now we are doing our first album in a digital format. The first two Rebel Storm albums, "The Hard Way" and "Stormin South" were both recorded on two inch analog tape. But with this effort on digital we are taking advantage of all the cool editing we can do on Protools. This sounds like a studio recording and we want it to.
I can not wait for folks to hear the results!
Now that's tone!
